Catch-and Release-Program
You are encouraged to participate in the Catch-and Release Program for game fish. Please consider the following guidelines. 1. Time is important. Play and release fish as quickly as possible to reduce unnecessary stress. 2. Keep the fish in the water as much as possible and use forceps or needle nose pliers to remove the hook. 3. Handle the fish with bare, wet hands. Do not squeeze the fish and do not put your fingers in the eyes or gills, or cause scale loss. 4. The best way to handle any fish caught in Alpine Lake is to place the thumb over the fish’s lower lip and lift it straight up. Remove the hook and return the fish to water. Do not bend the lower jaw or try to hold the fish horizontally using this method. You may seriously injure the fish. Grasping the fish under the gills or otherwise handling the fish is not recommended. When releasing the fish, hold it gently under the water until it is ready to swim away on its own. |
